Where I’m Coming From

I spent over two decades working inside the photography industry, first as a photographer and later supporting studios behind the scenes as a strategic and operational partner.

I’ve photographed more than a hundred weddings, run my own studio, and worked alongside photographers as their businesses grew more complex. I know what it looks like to be fully booked and still feel like everything is held together by willpower and late nights.

That perspective shapes how I work. I understand both the creative pressure and the operational weight of running a studio at a high level.

From Photographer to Studio Manager

Over time, my role evolved.

I moved from being behind the camera to managing what happens behind the scenes.

Today, I work as a studio manager for luxury photographers and provide consulting support for photographers and creatives who want their businesses to run with more clarity, structure, and intention.

That means:

Overseeing Operations, Refining Workflows, Supporting Client Experience

Managing the details most people don’t see, but everyone feels

I sit inside real businesses.
I see what breaks.
I see what works.
And I see where advice often falls short of reality.

Why Business of Being a VA exists

Business of Being a VA was created because I saw a gap.

Too much advice about becoming a virtual assistant focuses on:

  • tools before thinking

  • confidence before experience

  • preparation before action

But the truth is simpler.

Most people already have valuable skills.

They already understand communication, organization, problem-solving, and support.

What they lack is clarity on how to translate that experience into paid client work.

This site exists to close that gap.

Not with certifications.

Not with hype.

And not by gatekeeping information.

But by offering clear, practical guidance shaped by real work and real businesses.

How I approach this work

I don’t believe in:

  • Hustle for the sake of hustle

  • Performative productivity

  • Building businesses that look good but feel unsustainable

I do believe in:

  • Calm, capable support

  • Paid work that respects your time

  • Systems that serve your life, not consume it

Everything you’ll find here, from the blog to the resources, is written with that perspective in mind.

If you’re here, you’re likely already qualified

If you’ve supported others, managed details, kept things running, or solved problems quietly and consistently, you’re not starting from zero.

You’re starting from experience.

Business of Being a VA is here to help you see that clearly, and use it well.

If you’re looking for a grounded place to start,
Already Qualified is a good next step.
